| Sisters - Calico Annie and Tabby Amy |
To accommodate we take them for escorted "walks" in our back yard.
Amy girl is very sick. She has kidney failure and perhaps lymphoma.
She got very critical this week and went to pet ER and the vet for an overnight IV.
It worked pretty well, and when she came home she slept deeply and soundly (and snored loudly as usual) for the first time in a long while.
And the next morning Mr. M got up early and took her and her sister Annie for a morning "walk". Amy was well enough to go and to really enjoy it. But we know the respite is brief. We are saying good by in our different ways.
Amy is 16 years old, a total sweetheart of an animal. She is not a lap animal, but whenever you turn around she is following behind just to be close to us. She has comforted us in times of trouble.
It is our turn to return that favor.
The postscript 7/5/2011 :
Amy stayed with us another month. it was our chance to spoil her and say goodby to a dear friend.
She has gotten little walks and outrageous treats a couple times a day. And we have cried over her and given our love and good by's.
We have given her fluids every other day for the past month, and she has felt pretty well, but now it is a matter of days, and rather than let Amy have a painful ending we will send her home.
Joe and I have explained to JJ that it is Amy's time to go see God.
We told her that Baba would hold Amy in his arms till God came and took her.
On July 5 we took Amy for one last ride and held her, then let her go.
