We have let a few Butterfly Weed (AKA Milkweed I think) naturalize around our garden area. They are one of the few foods for butterfly caterpillars (along with flatleaf parsley, which is out front).
But it has been years since I saw guests take advantage of our spread. This year we have a number of beautiful yellow and black caterpillars munching away. They eat prodigiously, and you can darn near watch them growing.
I think these beauties will be swallowtail butterflys shortly.
Oh, and our first green bean is moving along well too.
