Their stories are not mine to tell, but I wish they were because just in this trip there was a really good book or two worth of human interest. So, just rough outlines:
Last trip I found myself in Hohhot Inner Mongolia with a retired quarterback and his family. He now runs his own business.
This trip . . .
Ex stuntman and wife. They circumnavigated the globe on their own vessel with their 3 high school kids. It was while they traveled and saw what poverty and being an orphan actually meant they felt the call to adopt. In addition to their older kids they have 3 from Russia and added 2 from China.
A family who was rounding their kids up to 14, the majority adopted. I am in awe of these guys.
A family from Arizona. The dad read a book called "The Heavenly Man" and it pretty much changed his life. They have pretty normal lives and a pretty normal family - and they added two older kids - a boy 10 and girl about 8. They had a really sweet time meeting their older kids.
You get the idea. There was the family who adopted one heart baby and came back for a second (a big encouragement to me BTW), the families from No. Cal whose church has a vision for orphans, the pastor and his wife an children who adopted one of the cutest little toddlers, the couple who waited for 6 years! for the referral of their little girl, the couple who took a special needs referral of a little girl - who turned out the be a pretty close replica of her dad..
To all of you - even if we never meet again you guys are my heroes. Each and every one of you.
