IEP follow up. . .

It went so well it was all I could do not to tear up at one point.

We are so close to Josie that is is hard to really "see" what is OK and what is not.

Most importantly - Josie is not "stuck" in any one area.  At one rate or another she is making progress in all areas - some more slowly and some she is moving along right smart.

Josie was pretty much unintelligible when we started speech.  After 9 months of (on and off work) she rates 50 to 80% intelligible (not so good if she does not feel well).

In a couple areas she has made more than a years worth of gains in this school year.  That is when I got a bit misty eyed . . .

This team is really engaged and wants to do the best for Josie - maybe more than we can support just yet (no getting huffy here- right now Josie's medical schedule comes first.  If she isn't alive extra developmental work won't benefit her . . )

They have ruled out a complex oral motor issue called Apraxia (whew, because that one is tough and intense to treat) and we all agree the lack of O2 and language stimulation before she came home is a big factor.

They will be doing a complete eval on her to see if there are any other areas where she is lagging and we will go from there.
