Looking East and West

Like cold water to a weary soul, so is good news from a distant land. Proverbs 25:25

Today is Father's Day

We tend to celebrate everything for extended periods around here, so yesterday the girls helped me make their BaBa a delicious dinner of sliced cucumber and pioneer beef stew.  We bought some cards and made a few by hand.  JJ wrote out her own notes "Dear BaBa I love you, Love JJ" - Josie dictated "BaBa I love you so much" and "Jesus loves you so much he saved you".

This has been quite the year - Josie was declared inoperable /too high risk one year ago. We absolutely hit the wall as a family with a major house flood.  We pulled it back together and Josie had a "surprise" heart surgery (remember- she was inoperable!) and entered the world of medically fragile children and rare diseases (because just fixing the heart does not undo all that damage to the lungs)

We have learned to manage Oxygen delivery and setup, sterile procedures, and triangulation among multiple medical personnel.

We have had family, friends and strangers pray with us, stand with us and help us out

JJ has learned to be a big sister in ways most kids never will.  Josie has learned that this family is here for her  - and kinda tough (yes, we ARE changing your medication tubing )

We have seen  JJ and Josie grow and develop in beautiful and sometimes amazing ways.

And this family is blessed.

Joy is in the house and she is holding contentment in her right hand.  I am afraid peace and quiet is a ways down the road.

Mr. M carries the day to day.  He takes the girls to school, takes Josie to therapy and works with both on academics when they are home.

He has been a wonderful father to two little girls who think the world of him. He has sucked it up and done incredibly difficult things for the sake of two little souls who needed so much, but needed love and family most of all.

Mr. M - this day is to remember all you do, but I think in this house every day is Father's Day.

Happy fathers day to all of you and your families.

May God's blessings be present with you this day and the year to come.  And may you recognize them always.

Mrs. M

PS - Pictures later.

Update - One of the things Mr. M wanted for fathers day was for me to take the girls out and PLAY with them.  So I did.  They had a blast!
