A quick update for the night:
We (Joe virtually and me physically) met with the surgeon. He went over their thinking, and we accepted their recommendation (strong recommendation) that they do a full and complete heart repair and work with the PH during the healing phase.
They feel this is actually lower risk in the long run than doing the surgery and treatments a bit at a time.
Josie has low O2 saturation levels to start with, so there is not much margin of error.
So, they will switch the position of the great arteries, close the major hole in the ventricles, fix the PDA and the interruped aortic arch all in one fell swoop, then give her careful handling to help with the PH.
Dr Hanley's statement is that, because of her heart condition her right ventricle is WELL prepared to push against higher pressures.
So tomorrow is a BIG day. She will check in around 6:30, prep by 7:30, operation should start 8:30 or 9, done by around 2:30.
Prayer requests -
Surgery goes excellently
No nasty side effects like bleeding, etc
Her body adjusts to the new blood flow easily and she comes off vent very fast.
Wisdom and care for the docs and medical personnel doing the work.
Health and peace for the parents. (really - I am cooking a cold, and I am not allowed right now!

Praying for you and Josie and your whole family today as we expectantly trust that God has a perfect plan for Josie. That's a big surgery but seems like a good idea to do it all at once. Be blessed in the waiting. Keep in touch Kim!
